What you love about your chosen topic: It’s really hard to put this into words. I find it extremely interesting that the dynamics of romantic relationships can differ completely from platonic and familial relationships. in my romantic life I’ve always had such a wide range of experiences with different people and I hope that through sharing my own experiences and thoughts, I can help others to feel less alone and misunderstood.

What do you love about your chosen category: What I love most about the my category is the fact that there’s no concrete right way to date or be in a relationship, so this gives me the freedom to write from a perspective that is completely authentic to myself and my identity as a black woman.

A black woman you find most influential: The most influential black woman in mainstream culture for me is, ISSA RAE. I love someone that is their authentic self – accountable to her flaws, owns her femininity and sexuality, while being hardworking, smart and talented.

What do you love about your chosen category: Since my teens, I’ve loved fashion and beauty as it has been a way to express myself. As a plus-size girl, fashion has been a challenge that I’ve gladly accepted. Finding new looks and trends gives me a lot of joy. Growing up, feeling beautiful hasn’t always been easy but reassuring myself that everyone is beautiful in their own way has really helped me and hopefully, I can make others feel the same way.

A black woman you find most influential: My mum. She’s made me experience first hand what a strong black woman looks like. I can relate the most to my mum and her love and support inspire me to improve myself.

What do you love about your chosen category: I love finding natural ways to heal myself and making myself feel good. As health is the most important thing we have to think about daily, incorporating small changes in diet, fitness and self-care can promote positive change.

A black woman you find most influential to you: My mother. Strong, real and black. Always taught me to love the skin I’m in. Teaching of black history, health and soulful music while I was young , has now been ingrained in my soul.
