Feeling the love with Valentines Day at Home

February 14th is around the corner, this year it is a quarantine celebration of love. I like to use Valentine’s day to celebrate a relationship I am in, the love I have for myself or do something special with my girlies. I have never done anything over the top, usually drinks with friends, received flowers or a gift or even just an extra dose of self-care on the day. This year will be slightly different as outside is closed however I still think it is a time to appreciate those we love and ourselves

Couples

If you are in a relationship and living with your loved one then now is the time to get your DIY and creativity on. A thoughtful idea is making some DIY bunting which will include pictures of you and your other half. If you would not like to use pictures you could write one thing you love about the person followed by a cut out love heart and alternate between the two. A jar filled with 365 is another thoughtful gift that you could give you.

If DIY is not your thing then Amazon do fairy lights with pegs which you can attach pictures too.

Setting the mood in the bedroom is always an easy idea, put lovely rose petals on the floor and light up the room with some scented candles.

Myself

I love doing facial masks as a form of self-care.

Here is a quick face mask recipe using simple kitchen ingredients: Avocado, Rolled Oats, Honey, any essential oil (I like lavender for smell), lemon juice and coconut oil.

  1. Smash half an avocado with a folk in a bowl
  2. Blend 4 tablespoons of oats in a food processor until fine add to the avocado bowl
  3. Add the juice of half a lemon, a tablespoon of honey, half a tablespoon of essential oil and coconut oil
  4. Mix together and apply to your face
  5. Put on some calm music and cover your eyes with cucumbers
  6. Rinse off after 15/20 minutes

If you don’t want to make you own facial masks Lush do amazing handmade face-masks.

Friends

Celebrate with your friends, have a zoom linkup to have a chit chat.  You could even do an online quiz using https://kahoot.it/.  This requires very minimal planning as the quizzes have already been made for you, all you need is your phone and one person to choose the quiz. Get glam, put on some makeup and do your hair nice, even throw on a cute outfit. You could even do the facemask I mentioned above prior to getting ready.

I hope you find these ideas useful and even if you don’t celebrate valentine’s day showing yourself and the people you care about can still be done regardless at any time throughout the year.
