First on the throwback list is ‘Sister Sister’, Released recently on Netflix. Starring Tia Mowry-Hardict and Tamera Mowry-Housley. Twins separated at birth only to reconnect later in life and move in together under one roof with both single adopted parents Ray (Tim Reid) and Lisa (Jackee Harry). You follow their journey as young teens working together and discover who they are outside of their twin identity as well as who they are when they ‘re together. This show is definitely a binge watch as it is bringing me back to my childhood reliving the days of after-school tv in the 90s.

Second on the throwback list is ‘Girlfriends’. Currently showing on Netflix also. Starring Tracee Ellis Ross (Joan Clayton), Golden Brooks (Maya Wilkes), Persia white (Lynn Searcy) and Jill Marie Jones (Toni Childs). We follow four close friends in LA who challenge and support each other through various situations within their lives from work to relationships. This show is still relatable to the working power woman today. My lockdown time is going to consist of binge watching this show also because you can relate to any of the characters and still have a laugh at their jokes.

Third and finally on my throwback list is ‘The Proud Family’. This series that can be found on Disney plus. Starring actress Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud. You follow her life as a young teen and watch her tackle her issues with help from her family and friends. I love this series and the movie that was made after. The catchy pop songs had me singing and dancing during my childhood and the use of their vernacular had me feeling like a real teenager again even though I wasn’t when this show first aired on the Disney Chanel. This is a throwback worth exploring again.

Happy Watching!
